The Chesterton 491 rotary mechanical seal is an excellent choice for water-based media and other light operating conditions where superior and high reliability is expected. This is a simple rotary seal that gives you high performance.
You get a shaft seal for small seal housings that addresses many different applications. Chesterton 491 can be run against many different stationary seal rings for maximum flexibility in many applications.
It is therefore a rotating seal that gives you maximum flexibility in countless applications. The non-fretting design will not destroy the shaft sleeve or any metal parts.
The seal has a balanced isolated O-Ring design with anti-clog features, springs out of the fluid, dynamic O-Ring moves on a clean surface. The availability of repair kits ensures a quick and easy renovation on site.
This mechanical rotary seal is available in two versions, one with a non-pinned stationary and another with long pinned stationary to prevent stationary rotation. With this rotary seal you get a shaft seal for small seal housings that have been upgraded to comparable shaft seals.
It is balanced with monolithic seal faces and a design that contributes to improved performance. With this mechanical seal you will get an improved design with springs that are isolated and thus prevent clogging.
It is designed not to fret shafts or sleeves.
