Kårstø refining plant in Nord-Rogaland is Europe's largest plant when it comes to transporting and treating gas and condensate on the Norwegian shelf. The goal of the project was to convert two damp turbines powered pumpskids to modern electrical motors including full instrumentation and noise hoods according to latest NORSOK and TR Equinor requirements.
Fuglesangs scope of supply was engineering, design and production of baseplate adapters for modification and delivery of motors, noise hoods, couplings as well as instrumention necessary for upgrade of two pump skids.
Motor power BFW pump: 850kw (6600V).
Motor power Condensate return pump: 90kw (690V).
Quote from AIBELs project description
“The electrification of the BFW pumps on Åsgard system is prioritised by operation. This
is due to higher possibility of dumping steam on Åsgard system rather than Statpipe
system. Currently there is surplus of steam going to Statpipe system and by electrification
of the above 2 equipment, the steam surplus is estimated to be reduced by maximum
of 11 tons steam per hour. This will reduce 15000 ton/year CO2 and 10 ton/year NOx
emissions at Kårstø respectively due to 7 MSm3/year less fuel gas consumption”.
We thank AIBEL and Equinor for choosing Fuglesangs for the project.
