15.Des-09: Develops subsea slurry pumping systems
In early 2009, Fuglesangs supplied a subsea pump system for pumping drilling mud and cuttings, to an offshore drilling equipment customer. Currently, future systems are under development, under the Mudrise™ label.
The primary purpose of these pump systems will be to transport drilling fluids with cuttings, from seabed or subsea to surface, as part of Riserless, Managed Pressure or Dual-Gradient drilling systems. However, the pump system can be used for any type of subsea slurry duty, including dredging, trenching operations, removal of drill cuttings and various subsea clean-up applications.
The pump systems are designed with a zero discharge-to-sea HSE philosophy, and with focus on high reliability. Furthermore, maintenance procedures are simple and replacing the critical wearable parts can be done offshore, without removing the drive unit.
The system is using state-of-the-art proven slurry pump design principles from world leading slurry pump manufacturers. Fuglesangs contributes with more than 25 years of experience with slurry sealing technology, pressure and seal support technology, offshore pump upgrade programs, as well as pump system integration and know-how.
